1970

A new standard for gas safety

The CORGI story begins two years after 1968’s Ronan Point Disaster, an explosion in a 22-story London apartment block caused its collapse and was attributed to unsafe gas work. In 1970 CORGI (short for Confederation for the Registration of Gas Installers) was established to protect the public and uphold the highest professional standards across the heating industry.

1991

The nation's gas industry watchdog

From 1991 until the Gas Safe Register became the new regulator in 2009. CORGI operated as the nation’s gas industry watchdog (over 110,000 engineers at their peak).

2011

Protecting homes with CORGI HomePlan

Building on decades of safety and reliability, CORGI HomePlan launched in 2011 to provide expert assistance for heating breakdowns, scheduled servicing and home emergencies. Today all of this adds up to the 24-hour reassurance our customers experience – knowing their homes are protected, helping them to stay warm and worry-free.

CORGI HomePlan became part of the OVO group

In 2017 CORGI HomePlan proudly became part of the OVO group -- a group of five brands that share the same focus on delivering exceptional customer service at fair prices. OVO has been committed to delivering a fairer, greener, and simpler energy experience for all their customers.
